Teen falls 60 feet at North Carolina Waterfall.

A teen was hospitalized after he fell 60 feet at the South Mountain State Park last Saturday. The incident happened near the park’s popular High Shoals Falls. The park superintendent Jonathan Griffin told WSOC TV that the teen victim was 18 years old and was transported to the local trauma center. Griffin said the teen ignored several warning signs and a physical barricade to reach the top of the falls. Rescue efforts were made but more difficult because of the ice left from a recent storm. The waterfalls are located just south of Morganton, NC, and the South Mountain State Park covers about 21,000 acres. Read more
